UB Dental Researcher to Research Stem Cell Therapy for Root Canals

A College at Buffalo professor has obtained a $400,000 grant to review methods for repairing broken tooth.

Camila Sabatini, DDS, PhD, is an affiliate professor of restorative dentistry within the Faculty of Dental Drugs. She shall be collaborating with Techung Lee, PhD, affiliate professor of biochemistry within the Jacobs Faculty of Drugs and Biomedical Sciences and Frank Scannapieco, PhD, SUNY Distinguished Professor of Oral Biology.

The selective four-year grant is connected to the Harold Amos Medical College Improvement Program (AMFDP) award from the Robert Wooden Johnson Basis. Sabatini was the one dentist within the choice of students for this 12 months.

Sabatini’s analysis proposal concerned investigating methods “to make use of stem cells of dental origin to advertise the restore of broken tooth probably avoiding the necessity for a root canal,” shared UB in a latest press launch.
